Shiva's rudraksha and Murugan's karungali, father and son in one mala
4.76· 200 reviewsIn stock
Rudraksha was born from the tears of Lord Shiva. Karungali, the deep black ebony, is the wood of his son, Lord Murugan, who carries the Vel. Father and son, the calm of the meditating Shiva and the courage of the young warrior god, meet in this one mala.
Brown rudraksha and black karungali sit side by side, bead after bead, so every round of japa passes through both. Devotees in the South have long worn them together for a double shield of faith, and to carry both Shiva's peace and Murugan's strength through the day.
Wear it, and walk with both Shiva and Murugan. Devotees who wear this pairing speak of:
For Shiva and Murugan devotees, for anyone walking through a Mangal or Shani phase, and a meaningful gift for a father and son.
These are traditional beliefs, lovingly kept, and not guaranteed results.
The first time: on a Monday, Shiva's day, or a Tuesday, Murugan's day; if you wear it for Shani, begin on a Saturday:
For japa: rest the mala on your right middle finger and turn one bead with your thumb for each chant, starting beside the guru bead. When you reach the guru bead, turn the mala around; never cross it.
The fit: 54+1 knotted beads that rest at your chest when worn around the neck. The knots keep the beads from rubbing against each other.
Care for it the way you care for your practice: gently, every day.
Many stores sell rudraksha and karungali malas. Here is what you get only with Arutra:
Is it good for Mangal dosha or Sade Sati?
In Vedic astrology, yes. Karungali is one of the most worn traditional remedies for Mangal (Chevvai) dosha, and the pairing is traditionally worn through Sade Sati and Shani Mahadasha. Begin on a Tuesday for Mangal, or a Saturday for Shani.
How do I know the beads are genuine?
Rudraksha beads have natural lines running from top to bottom, and no two are alike. Karungali is natural ebony: rub a bead on a damp white cloth and it should leave no colour. And scan the QR on your card to see this batch's lab report and packing video.
Why rudraksha and karungali together?
Rudraksha is Shiva's bead and karungali is the wood of his son Murugan. Worn together, devotees feel they carry both Shiva's peace and Murugan's courage, a double shield of faith.
Can anyone wear it?
Yes, men and women of every rashi wear it. It is especially loved by Mesh and Vrishchik (Mangal) and Makar and Kumbh (Shani) rashi. Follow your family's customs if you have any.
Can I sleep or bathe with it on?
We'd suggest taking it off, as water and friction wear the thread and dry out the beads over time.
